SHIFT Magazine

In my final semester of undergrad at VCU, I worked on a team of other students to build the third edition of the SHIFT Magazine. The purpose of this elective was to produce a magazine which would promote the SHIFT Retail Lab, in partnership with the VCU DaVinci Center.
Our team of 9 quickly learned how to conduct interviews, optimize a spread, study magazines of decades past, and most importantly, how to intertwine so many brilliant ideas into what would become 96 pages of what felt like creative magic! I’m so thankful to have had this experience and the ways which it helped me grow as a creative.

Content Producer

My role began when I saw the opportunity to help the Midlothian and Commonwealth locations produce Instagram Reels and Tiktok’s based on current sales, popular fashion styles and social media trends each month.

  • Creative Direction: Style outfits, produce photoshoots for instagram content, photoshop elements of posts for quality control using the Adobe Suite.

Designer Feature: Uptown Cheapskate

In the spring of 2023, I proposed to my client they participate in the 4th annual fashion show to promote their Midlothian and Commonwealth locations. The task would be to pair a revolving inventory of brands and sizes with a randomly assigned list of teenage models, what could go wrong? After weeks of long nights and lots of trusting in the process, I was able to present 23 looks almost entirely on my own! The following year, with me on the team planning the event, the client decided to join for a second year, which I would also design for while fulfilling my internship requirements. This time I had 3 dedicated team members from the client’s staff helping me bring 46 more looks to the runway, dazzling yet another crowd. One thing I’d like to brag about: that internship I mentioned led to me noticing from the event plans, in the far back of the venue behind the raised VIP platform would be about 20 feet of wasted space, spanning the width of the room. I suggested we offer designers and other local vendors to hold pop-ups before and after the show. This was not only a strategic decision for the event producers but also for my client, who was delighted when the sales far exceeded what she had hoped for.

WEAR RVA

Marketing Internship, 2024

During one of my final semesters in undergrad, I was given the opportunity to join the WearRVA team as they prepare for the 5th annual charity fashion show benefiting the Richmond Women’s Club. Some of the tasks I completed were social media management and content production, partnership development, manage backend of ticket sales, vendor and sponsor communications, media and press coordination, volunteer and designer logistics, just to name a few. What I was most proud of was the opportunity to assist in designing the event aesthetic based on the clients chosen theme “Girls Just Want To Have Fund(s).” We wanted to the space to feel inviting and vibrant while remaining catered to impress the many sponsors and VIPs in attendance. I’m so thankful to Amber and Taylor for showing me the event production process from start to finish and giving me so many opportunities!

Senior Capstone

In the Spring of 2024, my next to last semester at VCU, I completed my Senior Capstone for my Interdisciplinary Studies Major, with my focus areas in Marketing Insights and Media Studies.

With the inside knowledge that my client, Uptown Cheapskate would be expanding their Richmond operations by opening a store in Downtown, blocks from VCU, I decided to make the focus of my project: “How Uptown Cheapskate can use Social Media to market their Broad Street Location to college students.”

Now that the store is officially nearing it’s grand opening date, I’m able to share the work I completed for this assignment which reflected into actual campaigns and strategies upon the announcement of the new location.

May 2023 - January 2024

Brand Ambassador

This client specifically wanted me to create content which would attract my social media audience, specifically college students, and promote their services and sales. Additionally, I created specific content for their Instagram and Tiktok pages.
